VADODARA: Gorwa police have booked three persons for duping several citizens by promising them tourist visas as well as work permit in foreign countries.

The accused cheated the victims of Rs 30.50 lakh and even took away their passports. The police said that it will soon question the trio that runs a visa consultancy agency.

According to the police, Hiren Patel, a resident of Gorwa has registered FIR against Ruturaj Barot, a resident of Patan, Rajendrasinh Chawda and Salim Sheikh, a resident of Mumbai. Patel told the police that the trio had promised eight persons a tourist visa to Europe and charged Rs 12 lakh. They even sent fake visa with the forged stamp to the victims on Whatsapp.

“The accused returned passport of one of the victims without any visa stamp but didn’t give passports of others,” the police said.

They demanded Rs three lakh more from the victims and even threatened them.

Another complainant Afzhal Mirza too told the police that the accused trio promised work permit to eight of his relatives in Dubai and another eight in Bangkok. But when they reached Dubai and Bangkok they were not given any work permit. The accused took Rs 18.50 lakh from them but didn’t return it. “The accused abandoned the victims by promising them jobs abroad and took away all the money,” the police added.
