More than 100 FIRs filled against “ Nistish Ghai “Owner of Five fake and illegal companies running in Ludhiana , Blessings consultancy at Samrala Chowk, V. Visa at Model Town, GGI Group at Gill Chowk and 99 Visa and Bright Solutions at Madhok Complex. These firms claimed to be recruiting agencies for jobs abroad.
Through massive advertisement in print and online media Nitish Ghai attracted 1000s of people towards his companies. 80% of the victims are from Punjab regions only where rest belongs to Himachal Pardesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Haryana. He promised them work and PR in Canada and charged them for their medical and other expenses as initial deposit. He used to take to take 3500 INR as for medical examination, followed by Rs 35,000 as processing fees .
One victim from Tamil Nadhu, Vengadasalam of Perambalur, told that he has applied on behalf of his 200 daily wagers and have given him Rs 10,000 for each applicant.
He also allegedly had a tie-up with fake medical labs for getting medical test reports. Police has also registered a case against, the owners of three medical laboratories, where the staff has collected blood and urine samples of applicants, but prepared no reports.
In some cases, the agents hand over a duplicate visa designed through a software or just show visa image on mobile to the client and then demand amount in lakhs for handing over the visa, which is not delivered. Apart from this, Fake email Ids for embassy has also been created so that they can send email to applicants that he/ she is not applicable/ eligible for visa.
According to Additional DCP Surendra Lamba , this is the first time in Punjab that 100 FIRs has been registered against any travel agent. Moreover there are still 300 pending complaints of travel frauds against him. He further mentioned that accused was earning more than 70-80 Lakh INR per month. DCP also mentioned that licensed travel/immigration agents as per Punjab Prevention of Human Smuggling Act , cannot carry out operations of applications for visa on work permit. Such agents list are available on website of Union ministry of external affairs.
Victim Nitish Ghai started his business in 2015 while his family runs a small-scale hosiery unit. He become a millionaire in just 3 years and own a property of 20 crore . Police has asked for further investigation to Income tax department for the same.
